OH MY, this Beetlejuice Wedding. Everything about it was spooky magical and handmade! The details, the dress, and so much more were made or repurposed by the Bride. It was the definition of a perfect DIY Wedding.
I have been lucky to know Kaelyn and Mark for several years now! We met at Comic-Con in Michigan and have been friends ever since. When they reached out to me about their Beetlejuice Wedding I knew I was in for the coolest wedding. And it was over 9000 AMAZING, way past anything I could have imagined.
Kaelyn had planned to surprise Mark during their first look. So when she mentioned doing Beetlejuice, I naturally freaked out excited (the jumping up and down kind) and was SO ready to capture every little detail of their special moment. On the day of the wedding the mask almost didn’t happen due to trying to get it to fit over her hair without ruining it. But bless the bridesmaids who think fast! Because we were able to cut it enough to get it over her comfortably and they totally saved the day with it turning out even better than we could have imagined.
Let’s jump back to the location of their fall wedding. They got married at Oak Creek Lodge in Bannister Michigan. It’s the cutest bed + breakfast wedding retreat. If you’re looking for a gorgeous log cabin nestled in the woods this venue is a dream come true. We stayed in the cabin the night before their wedding. There were enough rooms for their whole wedding party! Talk about the perfect way to celebrate the night before. There were lots of drinks and cards against humanity that evening. The next morning the owners of the venue had a full homemade breakfast made downstairs. They are also the sweetest couple who make you felt so at home throughout the whole weekend of celebrations.
Yes you heard me right. She dyed the bottom of her dress with her mom. It was absolutely stunning. I am a huge fan of breaking the standards and creating something that speaks 100% to you so I was blown away. They even handmade the lace top and her mom crocheted her shawl for the reception. It even had pockets! All of the little details and love that went into her wedding day look were stunning.
The ceremony was held out on the patio surrounded by all their close family and friends. They put their vows in a treasure chest to share on their 1 year anniversary together. It was a sweet intimate way to have a short ceremony and bring back the magic of the day on their wedding anniversary. The reception was held in a tent on the property. All of the details were handmade by Kaelyn. It was absolutely gorgeous. There were little Halloween touches mixed in with autumn tones everywhere you looked. From smoke bombs to treasure chest of vows, and homemade Chex mix + beef jerky it was a magical day that I’ll never forget!

Hey from Michigan as well! Love all the “mutal weirdness” I will admit this movie terrified me as a child and I don’t know why, but everyone make this movie look good!
